Reading glasses, graying mustaches and male pattern baldness – it’s the atmosphere of the elderly parents waiting for their little ladies to come.
Oldies are all the rage among expectant mums and dads preparing to welcome baby girls in 2025, thanks to the ‘My Best Friend’s Dad’ baby naming trend.
“I think we’ll start to see more traditional male names being chosen for girls like Drew, Noah and Dylan,” baby name consultant Colleen Slagen predicted in a recent report.
The newborn know-it-all teamed up with UK nursery retailer JoJo Maman Bébé to determine the most popular names of Generation Beta – bundles of joy born between 2025 and 2039.
“I’ve gotten a lot of requests for gender-neutral names that are feminine,” Slagen said. “However, I now have more and more requests for real ‘boy names’ for girls.”
“The biggest trend I see for 2025 is what I call ‘My Best Friend’s Dad’ names: Scottie, Tommie, Markie, Mickey and Billie.

But some of these boys’ names could mean that bags of money are in a child’s future.
A new study commissioned by SEO professional Julian Goldie found that babies who grow up to be billionaires often have old names like Thomas (nickname Tommie) and Mark (nickname Markie).
“These classic biblical names claim the top spots for billionaire frequency,” Goldie’s report read, “perhaps suggesting there is something special about this eternal election.”
Laura Wattenberg, the founder of Namerology, admitted that biblical names will be very fashionable when the calendar changes and says that conventional boy names such as Stevie, Scottie, Poppy or Murphy will be assigned to avant-garde baby girls of the year young.
However, not all tried-and-true baby names will make the cut in the future, says Slagen.
“A lot of names that we would call boomer and millennial names are in danger of disappearing,” she warned. “Boomer names like Linda, Kathy, Karen, Gary and Bob are not being used as much.”
But don’t point and laugh too much, Y2K kids.
“The same can be said for millennial names like Tiffany, Caitlin, Courtney, Greg and Jeff,” Slagen said.
